How much does custom software cost for small businesses?
The short answer
At Morgenfertig, a clickable prototype costs from €249 (from 1 working day), a prototype with real logic €590–990 (2–4 working days) and a complex app from €1,490 (3–5 working days). Software for daily operations starts at €3,900, and the prototype price is credited. A landing page starts at €590, a company website at €1,490. Hosting and maintenance cost €49–149 per month. All prices are net and fixed.
For comparison: traditional agencies usually quote €15,000–40,000 and 8–12 weeks for a first version. The difference comes from AI agents writing and testing most of the code.
Prices at a glance

| Working prototype | €590–990 | 2–4 business days | It really works: save data, print, calculate. Ready to test in your daily work straight away. e.g. exercise sheet software for a physiotherapy practice |

What the price depends on
Not on hours. The fixed price is set by these six points, which we go through together in the first conversation:
Number of roles
An app just for you is simpler than one for the boss, staff and customers, each with their own permissions.
Connecting to what you already use
Accounting, inventory systems, Excel imports or interfaces to other programs take the most coordination.
Devices and hardware
Camera, barcode scanner, offline use or custom electronics (e.g. ESP32) add effort.
Languages
AI translates each extra language quickly, but it still has to be checked and covered by tests.
Data and privacy
Health or personnel data need more care with access, storage and backups.
Maturity
A prototype proves the idea. Software for daily operations needs login, backups, error handling and maintenance.
Two real examples
- Sorting and delivery app in 11 languages (logistics) Two modes, address recognition by camera, admin area. One hour of conversation, three days to the app prototype. Falls under the "Complex app prototype" package.
- Exercise sheet software for a physiotherapy practice Filter exercises, place them on a sheet, print, plus patient management. One conversation to the first version. A typical "Working prototype", today its own subscription product.
What is not included
- VAT: All prices are net.
- App stores: Apple charges USD 99 per year, Google a one-off USD 25, if the app should be in the stores. A web app on your phone does not need this.
- Third-party services: e.g. text messaging or map services, if needed. We tell you in advance what they cost.
Is there funding?
In Austria, programmes such as KMU.DIGITAL fund digitalisation projects, along with programmes from the federal states. The conditions change regularly; the details on kmudigital.at are current. Whether funding fits your project is something we clarify in the first conversation.
Questions about costs
What does a custom app or software for my business cost?
A click-through prototype costs from €249, a prototype with real logic and data storage €590–990, a complex app with several roles or languages from €1,490. The version for real, everyday use starts at €3,900, and the prototype price is credited towards it. All prices excl. VAT, as a fixed price after the first conversation.
What are the running costs?
Between €49 and €149 a month, depending on scope. This includes hosting in the EU, updates, backups, security and small changes. You can also host it yourself, the code belongs to you.
Do you also build websites and desktop software?
Yes. We build websites and landing pages (landing page from €590, business website from €1,490), web applications, apps for Android and iOS, desktop software for Windows and Mac, automations and IoT solutions with custom hardware. All at a fixed price.
What exactly is a prototype?
A first version of your software that you can try out and show to others. No PowerPoint, no specification document: a link you open on your phone without installing anything. If you like, you can add it to your home screen like an app. Whether it becomes more, you decide afterwards.
What happens after the prototype?
You decide. Either it stays a prototype, for example to convince your team or investors, or we turn it into the production version with login, backups and your own domain. The prototype price is fully credited towards it.
Is there funding available?
In Austria, for example, KMU.DIGITAL (an Austrian funding programme) supports digitalisation projects, along with programmes from the federal states. Whether a grant fits your project, and which one, we clarify in the first conversation.
